How to become great at Starcraft 2?
I just bought Starcraft 2 and I am extremely terrible at the game. I can't even beat the campaign modes on the easy setting. I don't know the units, I don't know the strategy, and I'm almost completely lost. What should I do to become good at the game, should I continue to play in campaign mode? IF I play in campaign mode, will I get to play as the zerg and protoss so I can learn how to use those units too?

- buy starcraft one and learn from it before you advance.
- There should be an option for you to do tutorails. Don't go and buy a whole new game just to learn how to play this one.
- the game you bought is just 1/3 of the whole game. campaign mode for zerg and protoss come in the expansion pack. i think getting better at the game, campaign or pvp, can be hard. you should know how to build as fast as you can. building multiple factories to gather resources. send out a guy to explore nearby areas early in the game. then just train a huge army. thats the basic strategy. there's a lot of other things you need to know to be good, but it's also about practice.
- Half the fun is learning the units and strategies! Keep at it, I used to be terrible at RTS games but learnt by constantly getting annihilated playing multiplayer against random players (probably Korean's).
- 1.) Build a good eco. (Gatherers) 2.) Basic unit buildings (Gateway, Barracks, Spawning Pool) 3.) Scout and scout fast. 4.) Get 2-4 units and go harass the other guy. 5.) Tech good unit compositions. 6.) Keep up the harass. 7.) Go in and win. There's more to it than just that. Don't really worry about upgrades. I've found in my experience having the bigger army first will get you a win, rather than waiting for upgrades. Lots of practice young grasshopper. Try to think this at all times - What Would A Korean Do?
- Sounds like you could use a Starcraft 2 campaign walkthrough. Here's one that shows you how to beat each mission and what units and strategies to use on video: http://www.videogamesblogger.com/2010/07/27/starcraft-2-walkthrough-video-guide-pc-mac.htm

- Go watch a pro game. See how fast they pump out their first unit? how they plan ahead for space, early scouting, or rushing, expansions. Find the right race for you, play all 3, learn your favorite style and units. Make use of them, and know their Pros and cons. try and get them asap. Do what everyone does, then learn. Ask yourself after every time you lose. Why? What did I do? What can I do to be better? And don't worry too much, learn the hotkeys. Suggestion: Protoss, because they have the easiest learning curve. But, that said, go try out all 3.
- I suggest to play the tutorials first then try to play against the computer in very easy to get to known the units before trying the campaign. Also, when youre playing, you can click on Help in the upper. There you can get info about each unit and buildings, also the build structure of each race. (helped me A LOT) I think starcraft 2 its a bit easier to get a hang of it than Starcraft (I suxed so bad at the first one so the computer always crushed me at the start...) I still sux but the -very easy- IA is very gentle XD When I played my first match, I could win easily even if I didn't know any unit. After practicing some time by now, I can play against the normal IA without any problems xD (Im going to try a harder IA next time I play...) Also try watching some videos from pro gamers or just some gameplays at youtube to see how they do it. (just type starcraft 2 match or something like that) Then when you get better, start playing the campaign :O
