Do i need to play starcraft 1 campaign to play starcraft 2 campaign?

Is story connected? Also how will the starcraft 2 be different than the first ?

1. You do not have to play as there are already websites that summarizes what happened in Starcraft 1. But it is true Part 1 and 2 are connecting stories.
2. I think it would be different. This story line (starcraft 2) will be based solely around Terran. P.S : I am recruiting people for my new clan.
