What's the best way to play Starcraft online?

I just bought Starcraft Battle Chest and I want to play online. I went on Battle.net and tried to join servers, but for each one I have to download the map, but it won't download. I keep getting booted and banned from servers because Battle.net doesn't work well. I want to know, what's the best way to play Starcraft online?
