Do you need the original starcraft to play brood war?

Basically I want to know if I need to have the original starcraft installed in order to play broodwar. Another question I have is if anyone knows where to download starcraft broodwar online. I don't care if it's illegal, I just want to know where. I know I can find it through torrentz just by searching, but it would be nice to know if someone has already done it, and they can direct me to where they've downloaded it already. If you aren't telling that means you don't know :)

2. Yes you need Starcraft to play broodwar, Broodwar is an expansion. Also downloading StarCraft is illegal, and you should not try it because Blizzard can easily sue you.
