Does star craft brood war still wokr online?

A few months back I wanted to play it again and wlel it didn't work at all. I forget what happened but I think I had an issue with downloading their last update or connecting or something. I has gone on their forums and a number of people where saying the same thing for months. Did they ever fix it or is their their way of saying we want to to buy star craft II
