What is the best starcraft strategy for protoss?
I am a protoss user, and also my opponent is a protoss user. Whenever i play him one on one, he always build a lot of dragoons and attack my base. What is the best strategy to knock off his dragoons in case he attacks my base. P.S. - He also builds like 5+ cannons outside his base, and have like a couple of zealots in front. In other words, my opponent builds a lot of dragoons as his only force. should the photon cannons be in front of the pylon, or behind the pylon

- photon yourself in. Build lots of photon cannons and zealots. by lots, i mean 3-4 layers thick across the whole front of your base. after you upgrade, come out with a fleet of carriers and its game over.
- Construct additonal pylons.
- If he is good at dragoons, DO NOT try to fight him with same unit. If he has 20 dragoons you should only build 10 dragoons and build powerful unit's such as reaver and high templar. Many people think using high templar to protoss isn't a good idea but you'll soon find out. Tip 1.Make your high templar real quick(there might be build orders for that) Tip 2.You should check if he has cannons when you finish building your templar achieve. If he don't, make one dark templar first and kill all his probe. Tip 3.Bring shuttle with reaver and be CAREFUL. Tip 4.Don't even think about making carriers. you'll die by bunch of dragoons before making 3 carriers. Tip 5. Use your shuttle and reaver to hunt probes :-)
- A few things I think you could do. Really what I find a lot of this comes down to though is a question of Macro and Micro. (Macro = massing units, and Micro = control of your units). If he does cannon early game and more than 2 or 3 than that gives you a couple of options. You can either reaver rush him and drop / pick up two reavers asap near his probes. This should significantly slow him down. You have to straight reaver rush though so this is where micro comes in and scouting if he does decide to rush you. You could use some probes and 1 or 2 zealots if you feel he will rush early enough, but chances are by how you explained his style he won't and you should have enough time to do a straight shot at reavers. If you do, you should be able to beat him do goons, or he will only have like 2 max which you could probably out micro easy with your reavers. While you reaver rush I would suggest expanding at that point and get about 4 to 5 gateways. Than Mass goons and keep the harassing going with reavers if its possible. Another suggestion is if you cant beat a strategy try just mirroring it. You will learn it's weaknesses much easier this way and is good practice. If you do mirror it correctly than it comes down to micro of your goons and map control. A couple very key tips. Unless you play money maps (which you shouldn't unless you always want to be a noob), than massing defense is something you should NEVER do. SC/BW is much more about map control and micro. Another tip is practice your control of your goons. A typical control style of goons is to "dance" them. I'm sure you already know how to do this but incase you dont here is a quickie. For example you might have 3 goons. You seperate the three of them so you are almost flanking your target and focus fire on one unit, the second your enemy is targeting one of the goons back it up so there units either have to re target a diff unit or lose attack time by chasing that unit, this idea can be multiplied and applied differently. The best way to learn though is by observing and trying. So go look on google for starcraft replays of toss vs toss matches. Good luck :D
