Starcraft RPG

Good RTS game for a new fan?

I've always loved games ever since I got my n64 at the age of 6. I' 14 now, and love all sorts of genres from rpg's like fallout 3 to fps's like bioshock. One genre I never really touched on is the rts genre Yesterday I went to a birthday party at a place called switchbox. Its a place with a bunch of top notch computers that you pay $4 an hour to go on. You can then select an array of games. With 5 friends there with me, we played Warcraft 3: frozen throne expansion. That was the most fun I've had in ages. I got beaten hard because I hadnt played before, but it was awesome. The game lasted over an hour. Recently I got a new$1300 computer to be able to play high end games and run software. I want to get a really good rts with a balance of gameplay and HOPEFULLY but not mandatory good graphics and sound. Warcraft? Starcraft? Command and Conquer? Company of Heroes? What would you recomend and why?

  1. command and conquer, i grew up playing that game and its awsome, easy interface, it takes about a 10 minute learning curve to get the hang of the controls, but everything else i like also so its a hard one good luck
  2. If you liked Warcraft, you'll love Starcraft. They are made by the same company, but have somewhat of different feel. Command & Conquer is really popular, and the first one can be legally downloaded for free. You might also try the Battle for Middle Earth series, some Lord of the Rings RTSs.
  3. Glad to see someone else love RTS games! You have to see what your style is. Do you like modern types (like Command and Conquer and supreme commander, Red alert) or fantasy ones (World of Warcraft, Warhamer, Age of Mythology, Diablo) or ancient times (Rome, Praetorians, Age of Empire) or futuristic ones (Emperor, Starcraft) I own all the games I mentioned earlier. So choose your style, check the reviews for them and have fun :)
  4. Heres two games you can spend hours on having fun. 1. Red Alert 2, and the expansion Yuri's Revenge. (It's a command and conqurer game.) 2. Age of Empires 2, and the expansion Age of Empires 2: The Conqurers. These are 2 games you will have endless fun with. I've been playing for 10+ years, and they are still fun. I advise not getting Command and Conqur Generals, I find it lacking in a lot of places, but Red Alert 2, yeah, now that's where its at. I havent played Red Alert 3 yet, but I saw some game play and it made me happy.
  5. you can try RA 3 im waiting for Starcraft 2 Ac
