World of Warcraft patch takes forever to download?

I can't figure out why it does this. I have highspeed internet and a brand new laptop, so it'd not one of those issues. Also, I can't download maps on starcraft and I couldn't download updates for starcraft until my friend did something to tweak the firewall and the norton (I can't say what, I'm incompetant when it comes to computers.) She did something weird because I temporarily turned off the firewalls when I went to starcraft, but I still couldn't download the update. Puh puh puh puh PLEASE help! :)

1. i only Know about the WOW patch but this should explain. See WOW has a lot on those patches witch means around half a gig is trying to get onto your computer and no mater what that will take a while i have high speed internet and a brand new gaming laptop and it still was slow but it could also be the kind of laptop you have a Gaming or Video laptop would be Better than a typing or all around laptop and would load faster so i suggest a HP dv6000 or Macintosh
